In this thread, you can tell us about yourself and what activities you'd like to see.
Here are some of the activities we might do:
*Social free summer evening games in a local park eg Letchworth. We have all the nets and balls etc *Some winter play or training in a local sports centre *Coaching or skills training for beginners and improvers *Friendly matches against other Herts clubs *Play in local HVA league subject to numbers/interest *Some visits to volleyball festivals or enter a team *Social activities or events. Pubs, restaurants etc
Here are some of the things you might tell us about yourself. Nothing is compulsory! :
*Age/email address/rough location *Volleyball experience. Where did you play before. *What position you play. If you don't know anything about positions, don't worry. Just put "beginner" or "social player" *What type of things from the list above would you like to do. Any other activities?
We're aiming to cater for any level from beginner upwards and any age from about 14 upwards in a friendly mixed club, so anybody in the area is welcome and any points you have to make will be valid. Your email address would be very useful so we can contact you when we get going, but if you don't want to put your email on the board just email us at vernon5678@hotmail.com We'd have a mixed group initially but if demand developed for mens or ladies teams then that could be catered for too.

I'm 39 and have been playing volleyball for 12 years.
I'm a social/local league player. I prefer to play as setter as am only 5'8" but don't mind playing anywhere.
At the moment I train with Welwyn and Hatfield Volleyball club & Harriers in St Albans. Am looking for some opportunity to play summer/park games in North Herts and maybe some winter play in local sports centre.

Hi Karen
It's a non contact sport so mixed volleyball works quite well. For training and friendly games we'd play mixed. There are even mixed teams in the HVA leagues.
If there was demand later on we could have men's or ladies teams. That usually applies for higher standards of play but we'd be based on a more social level initially.

OK, that's good.
I look forward to meeting some of you and posting here! Doing a website like a message board is a good idea.

Hello Vernon, remember me from Harriers. We're living in Slip End now and some summer volleyball in the park sounds like a great idea.
I'll still play for Harriers but who knows what will happen in the future, this could be the perfect way to wind down after work!!
I'm 33, play as a setter because like Vernon I'm vertically challenged.
See you all in the summer with any luck.
Scott

Hi Scott! It looks like we'll be playing with a mixed/ladies height net to give everyone a better chance

My name is Wendy. My boyfriend and I moved to Bedforshire last year from Canada, where we were avid volleyball players. I have played for a number of years on Regional Teams and Local league teams in Canada. I can play both power and setter (though I am short at only 5'3, I have a reasonably good vertical jump). My boyfriend has played mostly recreational volleyball, but loves to play. If you are going to be setting up some type of practice or game schedule this summer, we would both love to be involved. Please keep us posted.
I will email you so you have a way to contact us beyond the board.

Hi Wendy. Nice to hear from you. Hope you and your bf can make it along.
I'm hoping we can start something perhaps in May. We'd only need four or five people to turn up to start a game and it should snowball from there, but getting going initially will be the most tricky thing.
Hopefully also the search engines will now start picking the site up. I put some junk at the bottom of the home page with lots of key words in it!

Hi Eva We are going for it this week, 7.00pm on Thursday 12 May at West Park Baldock. You can find this in the playing times thread: nhvc.proboards39.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1102028786If you want to email me on vernon5678@hotmail.com , I'll add you to the list and tell you when we are playing. At the moment , I'm hoping for 6-7 people on Thursday, (Wendy+bf,Marianne, Lalaine, and Scott and me +you?) so it should be enough to put the net up and have a game!

Hi. I live in Hitchin and play in one of the HVA teams. But as our team has finished training, I am interested if you're playing locally over the summer. I only found your site today so I missed your Thursday 12th May meet. Hope this is ok to write but I'm trying to find a male player for a pair's indoor competition in Brighton, Sat 28th May. It's just one day but it is a two day tournament (triples are on Sunday). Anybody interested? It's the Adur Doubles & Triples competition. The playing level is Local league div 1 standard. Hope to hear from you...
